The future of the Crown Jewel event has still not been finalised, and WWE fans are hitting the company with more backlash than ever about it.

With just ten days to go until the November 2 show, the location is still up-in-the-air after the controversy surrounding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Scheduled originally to emanate from Riyadh, the alleged murder of a Saudi-born journalist based in the United States has complicated matters between the two countries.

And it's meant there's been serious pressure on WWE and Vince McMahon to cut business relations with the Middle Eastern country, who they signed a huge multi-million dollar deal with to host shows over a 10 year period.

Reports last week stated that several superstars were uncomfortable travelling to the Kingdom for the show, which has lead to the company apparently scrambling for a new location, according to journalist Robbie Fox.

Considering there are huge stars booked for the event, such as the return of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Undertaker and Brock Lesnar, WWE really can't afford to lose their top stars over it, and for some it's a case of keeping their reputation over a huge financial gain.

And reportedly one of the men who cares more about his career than the money is John Cena.

Reputable Twitter account WrestleVotes stated yesterday: "I don’t know how or when, but John Cena has told WWE he won’t be appearing at Crown Jewel. I’ve heard the show is back in 'wait and see mode.' This is a mess."

Another tweet continued the explanation behind still having Cena being promoted for the event on Raw: "Asked why Cena still appeared in World Cup promos last night, source said could be because they’d like Cena to reconsider his decision, or if they end up moving locations, he would end up being apart of the event."

Add to the fact that Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer has admitted the event is 'in jeopardy', this could mean either WWE are scrapping it altogether or they really are locating, which would be the more logical step as they're still advertising every match to happen.

Cena likely doesn't want to go to Saudi Arabia as it could harm his image and reputation in the film industry, and at this point, you can't blame him, can you?
