It was always going to be tough for Mohamed Salah to repeat his incredible debut season at Liverpool. After arriving from Roma for £37 million, the Egyptian notched 44 goals and picked up the PFA Player of the Year in the process. But after scoring twice in the opening three matches this season, Salah managed just one further goal in his next eight appearances.Suddenly, he was being dubbed a ‘one-season’ wonder as rival fans relished his goal drought. It was only a matter of time before Salah starting scoring again, wasn’t it?On Saturday, he scored the only goal of the game as Liverpool beat Huddersfield 1-0.Then, he bagged a brace during Liverpool’s 4-0 rout against Red Star Belgrade.Salah is back. And he knows it.In the post-match interview on BT Sport after the match, reporter Des Kelly asked: “Do you remember when people were talking about your goal drought?”Salah’s reaction?“Who?”

Salah wanted to know who was talking about him when he was enduring his mini-goal drought.

Salah's two goals on Wednesday brought up his 50th for Liverpool, reaching that tally in just 65 matches.

That set a new 'fastest to 50 goals' club record, beating Albert Stubbins' record by 12 matches.

And Salah is proud of his achievement.

“It’s a great record and I’m very proud. I just want to keep scoring and keep helping the team win games," he said after the game.

“The way we play and the system has been different but we know our qualities and we are happy with each other.

“It was an important game but most important was the three points.

“I prepared myself to take the penalty and it was great to score the first one for Liverpool.”
