Conor McGregor and fellow UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov are both currently suspended pending the results of an official investigation regarding their latest bout.

UFC 229 went down in history as not only being enthralling before the event even began, but dramatic and gripping throughout.

With both fighters slinging insults at each other in the lead up to the event, tensions were high and this resulted in violent and theatrical scenes following the Russian fighter’s fourth round submission.

On winning the bout, the Dagestan fighter launched himself over the ring to attack a member of McGregor’s team after a short, but venomous exchange of words.

Pandemonium ensued, with members of both teams throwing themselves at each other and security attempting to regain control.

Since this drama unfolded on October 6, both fighters have been suspended from fighting with a full investigation underway into what exactly went on.

Khabib has only in the past few days had 50% of his fight purse released, while Irishman McGregor received his full payment on the night.

The “Notorious” immediately tweeted after the fight simply saying, “Good knock. Looking forward to the rematch.”

Up until now, though, a rematch hasn’t been looking likely from the Russian fighter’s camp after Khabib has instead seemingly set his sights on boxing megastar Floyd Mayweather Jr.

However, UFC Octagon Girl Brittney Palmer may have let it slip this week that a rematch is indeed on the cards.

Speaking to DailyMailTV at the AmFar Gala in Los Angeles, 10-year veteran Palmer had this to say.

“Well the thing is, yes, they are both very aggressive and they sell the show, they sell the tickets.

“But also, Dana [White] knows what he's doing and I have so much faith in the UFC that they will make sure that it does not escalate any further than that."

Palmer then let slip: “'I mean they're already taking the precautions for the next event.

“Hopefully that... I don't even know if I can say that. Well for the rematch.

“They're taking into consideration how that ended and they're doing all of the right
things to make sure that never happens again."

This will undoubtedly be exciting news for fans around the world, especially as UFC president Dana White has thus far refused to publicly confirm a rematch.

Brittney Palmer, long-term friend of White, thinks all the excitement and melodramatic events could actually be positive for the rematch.

“Of course it's going to escalate the feelings of the re-match, of course any extra or added drama from what already happened is going to make the fight actually that much bigger.

“So really, at this point, you can't get any more dramatic than the re-match, so let's hope that it happens, because I want to see it and I know every other fan around the world wants to see it.”

After all the dramatic events of the past few weeks, one thing is for sure, a McGregor-Khabib rematch will certainly provide more fireworks and excitement and will have the world’s attention once more.
