Vinicius Junior reveals the decision he made with Real Madrid divided over him

Vinicius Jr is creating a divide at Real Madrid.

It was a summer of upheaval at Real Madrid - something very out of the norm for them in recent years.

Real have lifted three consecutive Champions League titles with a remarkably similar team, keeping hold of their coach and top players while not really signing anyone for their first team.

But this summer saw Zinedine Zidane walk away from the Santiago Bernabeu after his hattrick of European Cups and he was replaced by Spain coach Julen Lopetegui, who was then infamously fired by his country on the eve of the World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo then departed Madrid after nine very successful years for a new life in Turin, with Real deciding not to invest in an immediate replacement.

The most experienced attacking signing was Mariano Diaz returning from Lyon, although re-signing a player who was deemed not good enough very recently didn't exactly excite the fans.

Instead, arguably their most exciting signing was 18-year-old Vinicius Junior.

The Brazilian from Flamengo arrived for a truly incredible fee, considering his lack of experience - €45m - although he has gone straight into the 'B' team, Castilla, and played just 12 minutes for the senior side.

But despite the lack of time, it now looks as though he's making a big impact at the club - just not in the way that's wanted.

Vinicius Jr has played just 12 minutes for the senior side this season.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Lopetegui, Florentino Perez, and the players are at odds over Vinicius should be used.

Perez was excited by Vinicius's displays during the pre-season tour of the USA and wanted him to feature in the first team, but that was something the manager completely disagreed with.

In fact, the reason Vinicius is in the Castilla side isn't that the club wanted him to develop there but rather because he volunteered after learning Lopetegui wouldn't be using him - something he revealed himself.

Julen Lopetegui is under very heavy pressure at Real Madrid.

"I asked to play there if I wasn't going to be considered because it's better than staying at home," said Vinicius. "This was to allow myself to adapt to the style of play and to adapt to the setting, getting used to everything that a player needs."

And while that situation is sticky enough, Lopetegui then upset the players by using Vinicius from the bench against Atletico Madrid when there where more experienced options, such as Lucas Vazquez.

The situation would be made a lot easier if the coach was getting results but Real are having a very poor season.

It's heavily rumoured that he'll be sacked soon and if he is, it seems important that the next boss gets the Vinicius situation handled wisely.
