WWE fans were shocked and saddened to find out on Monday Night Raw this week that Roman Reigns would be stepping away from the ring for a while in order to treat his cancer.

The Big Dog announced at the top of Raw this week that his leukaemia which initially had gone into remission in his early 20s had returned and therefore he would be relinquishing the Universal Championship in order to receive treatment.

The WWE Universe and superstars alike were surprised when Reigns announced the news, and many came out in support of him, wishing him well and hoping he returns to the ring soon.

One superstar who wished Reigns well in his cancer treatment was Sasha Banks, as the former Raw Women's Champion explained in a recent interview with Maria Menounos, via Ringside News, how she felt when The Big Dog made his announcement.

The Boss said: “I didn’t know, and I don’t want to cry ’cause he’s so…he’s very special, and I’m still shaken from that news.

“I remember getting ready for my match and walking backstage and everyone just stopped and was watching some kind of screen of any sort that they could see, and I’m like ‘what’s going on? what-what did he just tell us?’"

This was the moment which Banks found out about Reigns cancer, and she reacted by immediately running to the gorilla.

“Everyone found out with that promo, the whole world. No-one backstage knew. I ran to gorilla ’cause I’m like- he is the strongest, most amazing man I’ve ever met. He’s taught me so much since I’ve been on RAW.

“Just to see the outreach on Twitter too of people just wishing him well, knowing that people are gonna pray for him, I know he is going to get through this because he is so strong.

“To know he has been battling with this and didn’t tell a soul and he is legit. He is a leader, he is everyone- everyone looks up to him. There’s no bad word[s] that anybody can say about him, because he is the hardest working person I’ve ever met, and I wish him all the best, and I know he’s gonna overcome this.”

It's clear that The Big Dog has touched many hearts of his fellow superstars in the WWE. Fingers crossed he is able to return to action in the ring very soon.
