FIFA 19 is nearly a month old and the latest edition of the famous franchise has been met with rather mixed reviews.
The gameplay is drastically different this time around, with defending made a lot easier courtesy of changes to the way pace is perceived in the game.
Gone are the days of a 90+ paced striker sprinting away from defenders at will. We're now seeing the likes of Gerard Pique match Leroy Sane stride for stride.
What it has meant is that players with seriously high speed statistics on the game are not the overpowered beasts they once were.
Welliton, Victor Ibarbo, Seydou Doumbia and Gabby Agbonlahor are just some of the pace merchants that have tortured players down the years.
That quartet represent some of the most overpowered players to have graced the great game mode that is Ultimate Team.
This time around, there are more than a few who fall into that category and without further ado, here are the top 10 most overpowered players on FIFA 19 - in order.
10 - LEON GORETZKA (Bayern Munich)
After his summer switch to Bayern Munich and a nice little rating boost, Goretzka's 83-rated card is a force to be reckoned with.
The German international is a tidy player in real life, but on FIFA, he is a true midfield monster.
He's one of the few cards to boast 70+ for all six attributes on his Ultimate Team card and his 83 pace is what sets him apart from the rest.
As previously mentioned, speed isn't the be all and end all this time around, but Goretzka's speed combined with his physique make him hard to stop when he bursts forward.
A midfield two of him and fellow Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso is a surefire way to success with a Bundesliga squad.
Throw in Player of the Month Marco Reus in front and you have a winning formula.
9 - ANDERSON TALISCA (Guangzhou Evergrande)
The Chinese Super League has been a welcome addition to the new game, making some classic FIFA players available to use again.
Hulk, Alexandre Pato, Oscar, Cedric Bakambu and even Odion Ighalo are back on Ultimate Team and they're all easily obtained.
Building a CSL hybrid team is a cheap, yet effective way to torment opponents and there are two overpowered players from China that need to make any squad.
Talisca is just about the perfect CAM, standing at 6'3" with an impressive pace rating of 76, nothing is stopping the Brazilian.
Think of Kevin de Bruyne, but a bit taller, that's what Talisca is like on the game. He is a top player in real life, but FIFA have certainly gone a tad overboard with his virtual ability.
8 - ALEX TEIXEIRA (Jiangsu Suning)
The second player to feature from China is a man Liverpool fans will know very well. Teixeira was a FIFA legend from his days with Shakhtar Donetsk and he's even better now.
Teixeira is listed as a striker, but it's easy to convert him to a CAM with a few position change cards. He seems to thrive in a slightly deeper role.
A pace rating of 91, 82 dribbling, 77 for finishing and decent physicality at 71 - baring in mind he's only 5'8" - make Teixeira the bargain of the game.
He goes for around 1100 coins and given that he's Brazilian, it's easy to slot him into any squad and earn respectable chemistry.
The FIFA 19 award for the 'new Welliton' is certainly Teixeira. You won't see a better 79-rated player.
7 - RICARDO PEREIRA (Leicester)
You're unlikely to play many Premier League teams in Rivals or in the Weekend League that don't have Pereira at right-back.
Antonio Valencia and Kyle Walker are, of course, fantastic options, but their price has led many to turn to the Portuguese.
Why? Because he's pretty much prime Dani Alves on FIFA 19. He's lightning-quick, quality at both ends of the pitch and has the stamina to produce the goods for 90 minutes.
And he's all yours for around 3000 coins. Combine him with Player of the Month Lucas Moura and you have a lovely overpowered right-hand side to your Premier League team.
6 - RODRIGO (Valencia)
Rodrigo's rise to established star with Valencia has been well documented and EA Sports have decided to turn him into an absolute machine.
The Spaniard seems to be one of the few strikers on the game that can actually burst away from any defender.
That's probably down to his 92 sprint speed and he's also an absolute monster in the air.
It's hard to get a better striker than Rodrigo without breaking the 200,000 mark and he's available for around 8000.
5 - GABRIEL JESUS (Manchester City)
Ever since his move to Manchester City, Jesus has been a must-have on FIFA. This time around, he's the most powerful he's been.
Despite a year or so of struggling for form, the Brazilian is a necessity for any Premier League team.
Four-star skills, high work-rate and 84 finishing, Jesus is the complete package. You'd think you were playing with Sergio Aguero.
The ideal way to use Jesus is with another taller striker, Romelu Lukaku or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if you can afford them.
If you can't, Alvaro Morata and Jamie Vardy will help you make a cheap overpowered forward line that will torment your opponents.
4 - GEOFFREY KONDOGBIA (Valencia)
You may remember Tiemoue Bakayoko being pretty much unplayable on FIFA 18. Well, this time around, Kondogbia takes on that role.
If you want Paul Pogba but for a 20th of the price, Valencia's midfield Goliath is your man. His six Ultimate Team attributes are all over 70 and his 88 physicality is just ridiculous.
You can't get him off the ball and once he's finished shoving your player away with ease, he'll whack it in the top corner from 30 yards thanks to his 80 long shot stat.
Kondogbia is simply a must-have for any La Liga team and if you're feeling thrifty, pair him with fellow Valencia teammate Daniel Wass, who also has all six attributes over 70.
3 - MEMPHIS DEPAY (Lyon)
Holland's main man has really landed on his feet over in Ligue 1 and FIFA have rewarded him by turning him into a card that will send shivers down any spine.
Switching him from a LW to a ST has proved devastating, with many players using Depay as a CAM and reaping the rewards.
Blessed with 88 pace, 83 dribbling, 81 shooting and 79 physicality, there's kind of nothing the Dutchman can't do in the attacking half of the pitch.
Amazingly, the most overpowered attacker on the game is available for 3000 coins. Team him up with fellow Lyon star Nabil Fekir and you will cause opponents some serious problems.
2 - PRESNEL KIMPEMBE (PSG)
If pacey strikers are giving you problems, then Kimpembe is the solution. The French international is the definition of a nightmare to play against.
As a defender, he has zero weaknesses and even the likes of Kylian Mbappe can't really get away from him with their speed.
It's like playing with Raphael Varane, but Kimpembe costs a fraction of the price.
Given that Ligue 1 squads aren't too popular, it's best to include the PSG man in a hybrid squad.
Benjamin Mendy, Aymeric Laporte or Abdoulaye Doucoure will help get the desired chemistry to get Kimpembe into a Premier League team.
1 - DAVINSON SANCHEZ (Tottenham)
The undisputed winner. If you've been playing Ultimate Team regularly, you will know just how much of a beast Sanchez is.
Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling are two defenders in recent editions of the game that have thwarted any attacker in a similar manner.
To put it simply, you will not find a better defender to use on the game. Sergio Ramos? No. Raphael Varane? No. Virgil van Dijk? Close, but no cigar.
The Colombian is a powerhouse, will catch up to any attacker with ease and just always seems to be in the right place.
His 84 rating is possibly a tad too high, but when playing with him, you'd think you were using an Icon or Team of the Season card.News Now - Sport News
