Doncaster defensive duo James Chambers and Wayne Thomas are nearing a return to first-team action following injuries.
Rovers assistant manager Richard O'Kelly admits the pair were not fit enough to take their place on the bench against Sheffield United last Saturday, but could be involved for the trip to Reading this weekend.
He told the Sheffield Star: "If they get a full week of training under their belts, they have got a great chance of being involved in some shape or form at Reading."
O'Kelly added: "They are quality players and they will enhance what we have already got at the football club so it will be great to have them back out on the pitch."
Chambers, 29, has not featured for Sean O'Driscoll's side since the 1-1 draw with Ipswich on April 17 due to a knee problem.
Thomas, 31, who has been missing with a similar complaint, was last involved as part of the team in the heavy 4-0 defeat at Cardiff on August 21.
