Steven Gerrard's managerial debut with Rangers has been closely monitored by most football fans.

The Liverpool legend appears to have galvanised the Scottish Premiership with his arrival and his Rangers team haven't done too bad.

They've been a real hit in the Europa League, but have yielded mixed results domestically.

Rangers are eight points off league leaders Hearts, although they do have a game in hand.

Gerrard's side were also eliminated in the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup by Aberdeen on Sunday.

As such, the onus is on Gerrard and his players to start delivering more domestically.

Rangers' loss to Aberdeen prompted the boss to say publicly that he will replace his players if they don't improve.

And in a press conference on Tuesday, former Liverpool man Jordan Rossiter was asked what effect Gerrard's warning has had on the players.

The manager then stepped in to defend Rossiter and stamp down his authority.

"I’ll answer that," he snapped.

"It’s a warning. That’s for me – not him. He’s been injured for two years.

"At a big club, we expect big players to step up on big occasions and provide big moments.

"If that doesn’t happen, at any big club, the managers and the recruitment will find better players or players who will do that."

Gerrard on the touchline vs Aberdeen

Fair play, Steven.

Liverpool fans were quick to pick up on Gerrard's actions with one of their former players and were very impressed.

LIVERPOOL FANS REACT

It seems inevitable that Gerrard will one day return to Liverpool as a manager.

He's gaining brilliant top-level experience in Glasgow and when Jurgen Klopp feels he's ready for a new challenge, Gerrard will be waiting ready to takeover.

Journalist Henry Winter picked up on the video and was very impressed, tipping him to have a very successful managerial career.

Gerrard's next task will be trying to get three points at home to Kilmarnock tomorrow night.
