The reason why Mbappe & Rabiot missed PSG's team meeting before Marseille

Kylian Mbappe & Adrien Rabiot of PSG

Kylian Mbappe's absence from Paris Saint-Germain's starting lineup on Sunday against Marseille caught everyone off guard.

The 19-year-old superstar had been on fire in Ligue 1 prior to Le Classique, with nine goals and three assists to his name in just six appearances.

He even notched four in a single game in the 5-0 thrashing of Lyon - he scored all his goals in the space of 13 second-half minutes.

However, when it was revealed that Mbappe had missed a crucial team meeting before the Marseille game, it was understandable why Thomas Tuchel saw fit to drop him and Adrien Rabiot.

Even Neymar agreed with the decision, despite the fact Mbappe came on and scored the crucial first goal in the 2-0 win.

"This is between them (Mbappe and Rabiot) and the coach,” the Brazilian said.

“Yes, they have to respect the schedules, and they ended up failing in that part.

"They know, they are great players, important to our team, and we end up suffering because of it.

“But this is an inner thing. Then Kylian came in and ended up winning the game for us."

Regardless of who you are, you cannot disrespect the manager and your teammates like that.

Neymar & Mbappe

And the reason Mbappe and Rabiot were absent from the team meeting is a tad ridiculous.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the French stars were late because they were watching El Clasico, which had kicked off three hours and 45 minutes before their game.

What makes it more interesting is that Rabiot has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in recent months.

The French midfielder is yet to sign a new deal with PSG and has also been linked with the likes of Liverpool.

Rabiot vs Amiens

As for Mbappe, this needs to be a wakeup call for him following his quick rise to superstardom.

To maintain your position at the pinnacle of world football, any player has to follow protocol and obey the rules.
