WWE hinted at a huge first-time-ever bout for Survivor Series on SmackDown Live

After the controversial Crown Jewel event is out of the way on Saturday, WWE will build towards Survivor Series.

The show has seemed a bit of an after-thought compared to its Middle Eastern counterpart - that's probably because Saudi Arabia have paid lots of money to get the superstars to perform.

When Crown Jewel and the subsequent European tour is finished though, the WWE stars will head back to the United States and be on the road to the Staples Center for one of the original 'big four' events.

It seems like the Raw versus SmackDown route is the way things will be going again this year, despite rumours of a Baron Corbin against Kurt Angle elimination match leading the Raw for control of the red brand.

But Ronda Rousey against Becky Lynch has already been announced, and the fact SmackDown GM Paige asked Charlotte to captain the women's team for an elimination match at the event has confirmed the theme.

It looks like we will have to wait until after Crown Jewel on Friday to see more matches announced, but last night's SmackDown dropped a major hint at a huge match taking place.

During Shinsuke Nakamura's match with R-Truth, the commentary team revealed that once again the current Intercontinental Champion would square-off with the United States Champion in Los Angeles.

That would currently pit the King of Strong Style against none-other than Seth Rollins for the first time ever.

Under the current Champion v Champion theme, Shinsuke Nakamura and Seth Rollins will face-off at Survivor Series in a dream match.

It would certainly be massive a step-up from the match we got last year on a technical stand-point - where Baron Corbin defeated The Miz.

But to further complicate matters, Rollins is also one-half of the Raw Tag Team Champions, alongside the man who turned on him last week - Dean Ambrose.

As it looks like they're going to have a long, bitter feud, they surely can't defend the titles together, let alone take on whoever are the SmackDown champions after Crown Jewel.

So WWE need to sort that out, but for now we can be excited about Rollins and Nakamura facing-off, just like the WWE Universe are.
