It’s clear the rivalry between UFC lightweight world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor won’t be settled any time soon. The much anticipated showdown between the two finally took place at UFC 229, where Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor via neck crank in the fourth round. However, the fight didn’t end there, as Nurmagomedov hopped over the octagon cage to attack McGregor’s teammates, brawling with MMA fighter Dillon Danis. The reasoning for Nurmagomedov post-fight actions were due to the constant verbal attacks he received from McGregor throughout the build up to the fight.Nurmagomedov and McGregor’s involvement in the post-fight brawl has led to the pair receiving indefinite suspensions from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).The NSAC have formerly punished McGregor for his involvement in an incident with rival Nate Diaz in which the two threw cans and bottles at each other during their UFC 202 press conference.McGregor recently settled that lawsuit with the NSAC, and it seems the two will meet again as the commission are set to hold a meeting on December 10, to discuss the ugly scenes post-fight at UFC 229.

Nurmagomedov on the NSAC's UFC 229 hearing

“The Nevada State Athletic Commission convened because of what happened after the McGregor match,” Nurmagomedov said.

“On December 10 they will meet again and call me but I'm not going, I'm not guilty. I started the fight and I finished as a man.

“They'll punish the initiator, I won the fight in the rules. After the fight I showed him that what he did before the fight would not be unrequited.”

The NSAC held Nurmagomedov’s $2 million purse after reviewing the post-fight scenes, McGregor, however, temporarily had his $3 million earnings taken but later received his cheque after the commision deemed his part in the incident not worthy of withholding his money.

Nurmagomedov later received half of his purse, with further investigation pending, but with the Russian claiming he will not attend any further hearings, will this rivalry with McGregor and ugly post-fight situation ever be sorted out?
