Wikipedia - the online encyclopaedia - has become one of the most used websites on the internet today, and let's be honest, who doesn’t love searching for random sport stars that they’d forgotten about?

Well, it seems Tyson Fury loves a Wikipedia binge as much as the rest of us, after admitting he actually got banned from the site for editing Wladimir Klitschko’s page.

The lineal heavyweight champion has revealed he was banned from Wikipedia after editing the Ukrainian's page on the online encyclopaedia before their showdown in Dusseldorf three years ago.

The Gypsy King used Wikipedia as part of his pre-fight mind games on the build-up to the title fight.

When questioned on the story, Fury said: “Yes it is true, until I got banned from Wikipedia.

“I did it because I wanted to prove that, because it is a public site, anyone can write whatever they want on there. If you want to go on and edit my profile, you can,” he explained.

The 30-year-old has, however, admitted he does not like to edit his own page, although an unknown user has edited it several times to show Fury’s boxing status as retired, so he has to edit it back to active.

“I have never edited anything on mine, because I am the lineal champion, someone keeps going on and writing I am retired, I am clearly not retired,” proclaimed the former heavyweight champion.

“So I keep changing it back to active and someone else keeps changing it to retired. Someone obviously wants me retired,” he laughed.

The location of which the user has amended the Wikipedia page is not shown on the encyclopaedia’s page, although the username of the editor is.

Fury was then questioned as to his thoughts on the location of the phantom page editor was, with suggestions it could be from Alabama - home of Fury’s next opponent Deontay Wilder.

“It might be coming from London somewhere,” said Fury in relation to his domestic and bitter rival Anthony Joshua.

Tyson Fury is preparing to face Deontay Wilder in LA on December 1, his first real competitive fight back after making his comeback earlier this year, after winning two warm-up fights against Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta.

Fury has made no secret of his intention to regain the heavyweight title belts he was made to forfeit, after his colossal victory against heavyweight king Klitschko.

After beating the Ukrainian warrior, Fury’s life spiralled desperately out of control with drink, drugs and depression, but he has made an impressive come back to full health and seems to be in the best mental state of mind in a long time.

It remains to be seen whether Tyson Fury really can rediscover the fine form what saw him crowned the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, lineal and ring heavyweight champion of the world, but if his training videos are anything to go by he is in very fine form.
