After Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229, the undefeated Russian champion went straight after Floyd Mayweather.Mayweather, who also has a win over McGregor when he halted the Irishman in 10 rounds on the way to making an estimated $300 million, was called out by Nurmagomedov who claimed there can only be one king in the jungle. As speculation on whether another crossover fight between Mayweather and a MMA fighter can take place, Nurmagomedov UFC boss, Dana White, has gone out of his way to express his desire to keep ‘The Eagle’ in the cage, away from a boxing ring. But it seems in Nurmagomedov's most recent Instagram post he isn’t willing to listen to the UFC president's wish as he goaded Mayweather by captioning his post: “Where are you @floydmayweather.”Nurmagomedov most recent call out of the former five-weight boxing world champion Mayweather has angered fans of the UFC champion. This frustration stems from Nurmagomedov’s prior comments when he claimed he fights only for legacy, not money.

“I don't fight for the money. I fight for my legacy. I fight for history. I fight for my people,” Khabib told TMZ Sports.

Nurmagomedov had previously criticised McGregor for taking a fight with Mayweather instead of defending his UFC lightweight title, and fans believe The Eagle should turn his attention to a ‘legacy’ fight with Tony Ferguson.

Fans frustrated with Nurmagomdov's Mayweather call out

Although the opportunity to fight Mayweather may be too hard to turn down for anyone, a fight with Ferguson has been slated for four occasions and fell through each time.

UFC fans are dying to see this showdown finally take place - and if it isn't Ferguson, a super-fight with former welterweight and middleweight world champion Georges St-Pierre wouldn’t be bad either.

Nurmagomedov previously claimed a win over St-Pierre would mean more to his ‘legacy’ than a victory over McGregor, in an interview with MMA Fighting.

“For his legacy and my legacy, it’s very important. [Our] win streaks, champion versus former champion. He is the greatest athlete who competed in UFC, in my opinion," Nurmagomedov said.

“If I beat Conor, or I beat Georges – which one is better for my legacy? We don’t talk about money, we talk about legacy. Of course Georges. If UFC will give me choice – I will bring Georges.”

So, with Nurmagomedov previously claiming legacy means more to him than anything else, it’s easy to see why fans are frustrated with the Russian’s desire to favour a Mayweather fight.
