Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has given a positive update on the possibility of making a fight with Deontay Wilder.

It’s well documented the two camps couldn’t reach an agreement when they first opened negotiations with disagreements over the money split’s and where the fight would take place getting in the way.

Because of this, Joshua was forced to take a mandatory WBA world title defence against Alexander Povetkin, while WBC world champion Wilder turned his attention to another undefeated British heavyweight in Tyson Fury.

Joshua knocked Povetkin out after seven rounds in September at Wembley Stadium, while Wilder and Fury get set to meet on December 1, at the Staples Centre, in Los Angeles.

Although AJ is without a confirmed next opponent, Hearn has already booked the WBA, IBF and WBO world champion to fight on April 13, again at Wembley Stadium - and team Joshua have again reinstated there desire to face Wilder, regardless of the December 1 result.

Hearn on Wilder's chances of a 50/50 split against Joshua

Hearn told Sky Sports he will look a the pay-per-view numbers Wilder and Fury generate, and if it hits the one million mark, the promoter will offer the undefeated American a 50/50 split he has previously demanded.

"I think they'll want to see how the numbers do," said Hearn.

"(Disappointing sales) probably makes it harder, because we look at it and say - 'Look, you're not a draw'.

"I actually want it to do better than do worse, because if it does bad, he has zero bargaining position. If it does well, then we'll accept that. If it does over a million buys, then we will have to look closer to 50-50.”

With Hearn already eyeing that April 2019 date, the Matchroom Boxing boss claimed he would like to open negotiations now, but he’s wary Wilder is unlikely to sign anything before his showdown with Fury.

"I just want to make progress. Just have a chat. I don't expect them to sign the fight before December 1,” said Hearn.

"But the problem is, if we start after December, we've got to go through a process that we could be going through now. A bit frustrating."

So with Hearn openly claiming he will offer Wilder a 50/50 split on the condition he generates one million PPV buys it must be seen as a positive step forward.

However, Joshua and his promoter haven’t expressed any recent desire to make the Fury fight, should the ‘Gypsy King’ prevail against Wilder - as Hearn claimed a fight with the ‘Bronze Bomber’ is more fan friendly.
