Even with a catalogue of events unfolding at Crown Jewel that are proving hard for the WWE universe to digest, nothing compares to Roman Reigns' announcement on Raw just two weeks ago.

The Big Dog relinquished his Universal title and announced that he would be stepping away from the ring to battle Leukaemia for the second time in his life.

Viewed as a locker room leader, losing the 33-year-old has been a big blow to the WWE as a whole, but it has caused a shakeup on television, too.

Braun Strowman and Elias have turned babyface on television to make up for Reigns' absence and, perhaps more pertinently, Dean Ambrose has finally turned heel.

The breakup of the Shield was always bound to happen according to reports, with Ambrose set to turn on his brothers at Survivor Series. However, Reigns' news brought plans forward.

Ambrose is now locked in a battle with former Shield-brother Seth Rollins and the Hounds of Justice have officially split for the second time.

Speaking in Saudi Arabia ahead of Crown Jewel, Rollins was asked about the effect Reigns' battle has had on the WWE locker room. Thanks to NoDQ.com for the quotes.

“It threw everything up in the air. It’s hard to go a day without thinking about him and how he’s doing and hoping he’s doing alright," Rollins said in an interview with alarabiya.net. "I’m fighting the urge to check in on him like a brother every two hours, but he’s a strong dude, and I know that he’s in a good place mentally as well as physically.”

“He’s in good health for the most part. I think he’s going to be able to fight this thing pretty strong. We’re just getting through it while we can. Obviously it’s going to be easier as time goes on, but certainly, the last couple weeks have been, and last week especially, have been a rollercoaster of emotions. Lots of ups and downs.”

Don't expect Ambrose to speak about the situation anytime soon given his new change in character, but many would argue Rollins has now ascended to the top babyface spot in the company, certainly popularity wise.

Whether the WWE will book Rollins in that spot with WrestleMania 35 on the horizon is another question.
