At WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Friday, we were guaranteed a new Universal Champion in the one-on-one bout between Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar.

The match came about in unfortunate circumstances - it was supposed to be a triple threat match involving Roman Reigns, but he's had to step away from the ring due to an ongoing battle with Leukemia.

Many were expecting the Monster Among Men to be finally crowned with a first-ever world championship, but that wasn't to be the case at all.

Raw's Acting GM Baron Corbin struck Strowman from behind with the belt before the match even began, putting him at a severe disadvantage against the Beast Incarnate.

When three quick F5's weren't enough to put Strowman away, Lesnar brutally threw him to the outside with yet another F5.

And whilst Strowman briefly fought back, it only amounted to a kick and a punch, as he ran into another Lesnar finisher to cement his demise, with Brock becoming the two-time champion.

It could have been so much more, lasting a paltry three minutes and 15 seconds from bell to bell, but WWE clearly wanted to get over the fact that it takes so much to get Strowman beat.

Now it's been revealed who Lesnar's first challenger will be for the title by journalist Dave Meltzer.

Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio, via Cageside Seats, that Strowman is indeed the next-in-line for another shot at Lesnar, and it will happen at either the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 35.

It's hardly surprising, but some felt that Strowman's best chance at gold had gone on Friday following Lesnar's win, but it's clear WWE have a long-term plan in place for the former Wyatt Family member.

He's being advertised for a match with Drew McIntyre at the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view in December, so you'd now probably expect Strowman to come out on top and face-off with Lesnar once again in January at the Rumble in Phoenix.

But Lesnar's situation with the UFC also comes into the forefront, his suspension will be up in January and you'd expect that the former Heavyweight champion will return to challenge Daniel Cormier - so Vince McMahon may have no choice but to give Strowman his first title run.
