Daniel Cormier produced an absolute schooling to defend his UFC Heavyweight Championship for the first time at UFC 230.In a bout less than a month before the card, DC took on Derrick Lewis, who knocked out Alexander Volkov on the undercard of the Khabib Nurmagomedov versus Conor McGregor clash at UFC 229.Lewis was no match for the all-American wrestler though, and gave up his back to DC in the second round, providing the opening that was needed. And Cormier delivered, locking in a devastating Rear Naked Choke to submit Lewis after two minutes of round two.

Cormier was expected to produce that type of performance, but his second defence is probably going to be a huge clash with former champion Brock Lesnar.

Having not competed since his controversial UFC 200 fight with Mark Hunt in 2016, it seems unfair to some that Lesnar can walk back into the company and straight into a title shot - but it's the money fight.

Lesnar wasn't there to confront Cormier once again like he did at UFC 226, he was presumably resting having competed at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia the day before.

But it didn't stop Cormier from taking shots and firing warnings in his direction on the microphone inside the Octagon.

“Brock Lesnar, when you come, bring that brand new WWE title because I feel like being a WWE champion too. Let’s go, Brock. Bring that belt with you if you come to my house.”

DC has really thrown down the gauntlet to Lesnar, and there's no doubt that Dana White will be frantically trying to make it happen in the coming months.

Lesnar's suspension for a failed drugs test commenced when he re-entered the USADA testing pool in July, and will be up come January 2019.

He will have WWE commitments to attend to first, being the current Universal Champion, but we know for sure that when Cormier and Lesnar are next face-to-face in the Octagon, the Heavyweight championship of the world will be on the line.
