Liverpool went top of the Premier League after their 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates.

With Manchester City not playing Southampton until Sunday afternoon, Jurgen Klopp’s side can enjoy around 24 hours at the summit before they’re more than likely replaced.

But in truth, it’s hard to know whether Liverpool will be happy with their point at Arsenal.

Klopp admitted afterward that a draw at the Emirates is never a bad result but felt that his side had the chances to win the game.

“A point is a good result - Unai Emery can say the same, but we had clear chances,” Klopp said.

“When Arsenal chase the game they throw everyone on the pitch which is really cool and we were not as compact as I wanted.”

They may not have won the match but Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk produced yet another world-class performance.

The Dutchman - who arrived at Anfield for £75 million in January - has transformed Liverpool’s defence and has provided some much-needed stability.

But despite his brilliant display, the former Southampton defender wasn’t particularly happy afterward because he felt he could have been walking away with the match ball.

"I saw Virgil van Dijk after the game and he said 'I should have had a hat-trick,’” Klopp revealed.

“I was not a good football player but I was good at heading and today I would have scored three."

That sums up Van Dijk’s attitude.

He’s been nothing short of brilliant this season and put in a Man of the Match performance on Saturday evening. And yet he’s still annoyed with himself at some of the chances he missed.

That’s the mentality of a winner right there.
