Reiss Nelson is a name plenty of Arsenal fans will already be familiar with. The 18-year-old committed his immediate future to the Gunners in August after making 16 appearances in all competitions during the 2017-18 season. While Nelson’s impressive campaign was rewarded with a long-term deal, Unai Emery, upon his arrival, informed him he was not among his plans for the time being. It was decided a loan move would benefit his development more so than remaining at the Emirates, and as such, the teenager was allowed to join Hoffenheim for 12 months. When the loan was confirmed, Emery sounded as if he couldn’t have been happier with the situation."Reiss is a talented young player and we're pleased that he has signed a new contract with us,” he said, per Sky Sports."This move to Hoffenheim will give him the chance to get regular high-level competition in the Bundesliga and is an important step in his development.”Well, the Arsenal boss could be forgiven if he’s changed his mind by now.

NELSON'S SUPERB FORM

Nelson has scored five goals in 319 minutes of Bundesliga action for Hoffenheim, which equates to an average just shy of one goal every hour.

Despite playing a full 90 minutes only once so far this term, the youngster is the top league goalscorer for his new club ahead of Adam Szalai, Joelinton and Ishak Belfodil.

Clearly, Nelson is relishing life in Germany - so much so that he’s been forced to respond to speculation of his loan deal being made permanent.

“I’m liking the Bundesliga,” he said earlier this week, per the Independent.

“There’s a lot of top, top defenders that you come across.

“It was always going to be a challenge so when I got the offer to come out here I was excited, knowing it was going to be such a big challenge for me.

"As a person and as a player, I wanted to take the next step.

“At the moment I’m very happy here. I’m playing, I’m scoring, but I’m an Arsenal player at the end of the day, so I have to stay and do my job here, then wherever football takes me I’ll go.”

Unsurprisingly, football fans have been blown away by the Arsenal loanee’s incredible form.

Nelson is only ever going to maintain he’s staying at Hoffenheim for as long as necessary, but if he keeps this up, Emery might want to have a word.
