Tony Bellew prepares to face the biggest challenge of his career when he faces Oleksandr Usyk for the unified cruiserweight world titles.
Bellew will meet Usyk for the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles this Saturday (November 10) at the Manchester Arena.
Usyk claimed all four world titles after he won the World Boxing Super Series tournament - and after the final the Ukrainian called Bellew out for a showdown.
Bellew had previously held the WBC world title having beaten Ilunga Makabu in 2016, however, ‘Bomber’ vacated the strap when he moved up to heavyweight to face David Haye - claiming two wins over the ‘Hayemaker’.
And current unified heavyweight world champion and friend of Bellew, Anthony Joshua, told Sky Sports what the Liverpudlian must do this Saturday in order to make history and become a unified world champion.
Joshua's comments on Usyk Vs Bellew
"I really want (Bellew) to win, so my passion is with him, regardless,” Joshua said.
“Then, from an entertaining point of view, Usyk is like a perfect boxer, so I hope Bellew is working on his counter-punches as well, because that's the way to knock him out - let him tippy-tap and then explode.
"As we've seen Bellew can counter-punch and he's got a dirty left hook, and if he can land that I think he'll do well.
"If I am honest, Usyk is the favourite, straight-talking, because he's unbeaten and he's done it at cruiserweight and he's undisputed.
"But, the thing with boxing, from like middleweight up, it takes one punch. One punch can change the course of a fight and, as I was saying, Bellew's got that in the locker.
"We all know he's got that as well, so that's what makes it so interesting."
Usyk has previously stated his interest to fight Joshua at heavyweight world his world titles - with Bellew and others believing the Ukrainian targeted a fight with Bomber as a stepping stone to AJ.
If Usyk comes through with a win on Saturday, will we see him in the ring with AJ anytime soon?
Or can Bellew land that honey-punch left hook he possesses and ruin any future plans to fight Joshua?News Now - Sport News
