It seems after years in the wilderness, managers have been making a bit of a comeback in the WWE as of late.

Of course, Paul Heyman has remained by Brock Lesnar's side ever since his return to the company back in 2012, but he refers to himself as an 'advocate' - a subtle nuance.

Elsewhere, the Authors of Pain have aligned themselves with Drake Maverick in the past couple of months and they tasted Tag Team gold on Monday night when they defeated Seth Rollins in a glorified handicap match.

One of the most notable new managers in the business is 205 Live's Lio Rush handling Bobby Lashley's affairs.

The former ECW champion has struggled to get much traction since returning to the company, and WWE bosses thought the wise-cracking Rush would be a nice complement to his character.

Now that both men have turned heel, Lashley is looking meaner than ever and Rush is the annoying nat at ringside.

Rush helped Lashley get a win over Finn Balor on Raw on Monday night in Manchester, England, but it was what he did at the top of the show that had fans laughing on Twitter.

Braun Strowman had just beaten up Baron Corbin's security guards and was looking to get his hands on the acting general manager. With the whole locker room - more or less - at the top of the ramp, Strowman ran into some trouble during his pursuit.

As you can see in the video below, once he breaks free, Rush is not in the mood to be remotely close to the Monster Among Men.

Very funny stuff. It's like Booker T with Michael Cole all over again!

Rush has made a promising start to life as Lashley's manager and his annoying antics at ringside have generated a fair amount of heat quickly.

Lashley's fortunes haven't changed much, though, with two losses to Balor before his win on Monday and a first-round exit in the World Cup at Crown Jewel to Seth Rollins.

It's anyone's guess what the WWE has in store for Lashley in the upcoming months, but he is rumoured to be on the Raw men's Survivor Series team in just under two weeks time, which should be confirmed next week.
