It was a bitter sweet night for Cristiano Ronaldo as Juventus lost 2-1 at home to Manchester United in the Champions League.
The Portuguese forward managed to score one of the best goals he has ever scored in the competition to break the deadlock in the second half.
Leonardo Bonucci sent a beautiful ball over the top and Ronaldo volleyed an unstoppable first time effort past David de Gea.
But Ronaldo's former club would come roaring back, and would take all three points when Juan Mata and an Alex Sandro own-goal gave the visitors all three points.
Despite the result, Ronaldo was happy with the goal that he scored.
“I saw the replay in the dressing room," he told Viasport Football, per Football-Italia.net. "I didn’t realise it was a fantastic goal, but I did a good movement and I kick the ball strong.
“I was happy with the goal, but of course I’m a little bit disappointed because we should win the game with three or four goals. Manchester didn’t do much, they had two chances on set pieces.
"I know English teams are always looking for set pieces. We will learn from our mistakes and we are still top of the group, so it’s all good.”
Ronaldo went on to make some comments on the game itself, and, it hasn't seemed to go down well with Man United fans.
Ronaldo stated after the game that his side should have won by three or four goals and that Man United didn't do much during the game.
"We are a little bit disappointed because we should have won the game easily, by three or four goals.
"Manchester [United] didn't do much. They created two chances, two set-pieces. The English teams are always looking for set-pieces.
"But we'll learn from our mistakes."
In a separate interview, per Football.Italia.net, Ronaldo again reiterated that Manchester United did 'nothing' during the game.
“We dominated the game for 90 minutes, had so many chances, could’ve killed it off three or four times,” he said.
“Manchester United did nothing to win the game. You can’t even talk about luck, because you have to find your own luck and in this case we just gifted it to them.“
Man United fans have seen his comments and they aren't impressed with Ronaldo's comments.
Despite the loss, Juventus are still on top in Group H with nine points from their opening four games.
