Mohamed Salah has sent a wonderful personal message to the sculptor of his viral statue

Liverpool FC v Cardiff City - Premier League

It has been an up and down season for Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah.

Having set European football alight last season, the speedster has struggled to replicate the electrifying form he showed so regularly last time out.

He has still been in the goals, seven to be precise, but he just hasn’t quite looked his devastating self.

Liverpool slumped to an embarrassing 2-0 lost to Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League with Salah spurning a glut of chances all on his own.

However, his difficult start to the season has not seen his reputation diminish in his homeland at all.

Having led Egypt to their first World Cup finals in decade, Salah’s superstardom has sky rocketed to a level unmatched by many global footballers.

The man is loved unconditionally in his homeland and that is only further proven by one fan’s actions in particular.

Sculptor Mai Abdel’s attempt to craft a bust of Salah went viral this week in the same way that the infamous Cristiano Ronaldo bust did last year.

It is safe to say that the statue is not an exact likeness of the Egyptian, and you can see why it has spread like wildfire across the internet.

However, while the statue has been receiving quite a bashing online, the sculptor creator has revealed that Salah himself personally contacted her with a classy message of encouragement.

Speaking in a post on her Facebook page, Abdel revealed what the Liverpool man said.

Translated the post reads: “International and our hero Captain, our player Mohamed Salah personally contacted me just now and encouraged me to continue.

“He asked me not to pay attention to the negative comments and told me that I am a very good artist, and asked me to take my time in the work of a new statue to put him in his home.”

Lovely, lovely stuff from Mo.

Acts like this will only see his nice guy reputation grow.

It is no wonder he is so revered both at home and abroad.

Salah will have to rediscover his touch quickly if Liverpool are to keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League season.

Liverpool fans will be hoping it is only a matter of time before he does so.
