WWE had to make major changes to their plans for the Universal Championship after Roman Reigns revealed that he was suffering from leukaemia. Those change of plans came into effect at Crown Jewel last week, as Brock Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman to become the first-ever two-time Universal Champion. While The Beast will be WWE's short-term plan for the title, their long-term plans are now being accelerated as a result of The Big Dog's absence from the ring. Many believe WWE's long-term booking for the Universal title will lead to Strowman eventually defeating Lesnar for the title, possibly at the 2019 Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 35.However, due to The Monster Among Men's reported troubles with officials backstage due to his etiquette, another superstar could be in line to be the one to eventually dethrone The Beast.According to WrestleVotes: "WWE has been high on Drew McIntyre for months now. The big push is indeed starting. They have major plans for him in 2019."

Combine this with the report about Strowman's backstage behaviour interfering with his push, as well as Reigns' absence, and it looks as though McIntyre could be the next face of the company.

Not only could this mean that The Scottish Terminator will become a Universal Champion one day, but he could also be the one to dethrone Lesnar either next year at the Royal Rumble or at WrestleMania 35.

This would be huge for WWE's future, as many fans are behind McIntrye due to his resurgence in wrestling through his work on the independent circuit as well as NXT.

WWE showed a big indication that McIntyre is their future this past week on Monday Night Raw after he defeated Kurt Angle in the main event of the show, using his own finisher, the Ankle Lock, against him.

This moment could be looked back on in a couple of years time as the moment which McIntyre push towards becoming the face of the WWE began.
