Liverpool vs Fulham at Anfield was a home banker, right? However, Jurgen Klopp’s side aren’t firing on all cylinders right now.The Reds have won just three from their last nine matches and certainly don’t look as irresistible as they did at times last season. As for Fulham, they travelled to Anfield bottom of the Premier League after just five points from their 11 matches so far.And it was an extremely cagey first 40 minutes on Merseyside. The midday kick-off certainly didn’t help but the atmosphere was very flat. But they didn’t have too much to cheer with the visitors frustrating the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Sarah and Roberto Firmino. In the 41st-minute, Slavisa Jokanovic’s side appeared to take the lead when Tom Cairney's cross was headed in by Aleksandar Mitrovic.Replays showed that is was extremely tight but the forward seemed to be onside. Then, 13 seconds later, Liverpool were ahead.Alisson took the free-kick quickly, Trent Alexander-Arnold played a lovely ball down the line and Salah made no mistake with a one-on-one.

Take a look:

Football can be a very cruel game.

A win for Liverpool would, for the time being, put them top of the Premier League.

However, Chelsea would go back ahead of them with a win against Everton at Stamford Bridge later on this afternoon.

Then, Manchester City would send Liverpool back down to third if they pick up a point in the Manchester derby following the Chelsea match.

One thing is for sure, Liverpool will need to improve their performances if they are to sustain their title challenge this season.
