Following the emotional farewell of Tony Bellew, in which the Evertonian announced his retirement from boxing after a defeat to world champion Oleksandr Usyk, Kell Brook has provided a timely update on his potential fight with Amir Khan.

Labelled the 'Battle of Britain' both Brook and Khan have faced complications with the bout in the past, as issues with making weight and specific terms on the fight have halted their impending encounter thus far.

The two former world champions have faced the real possibility of never settling the feud they have carried for so long.

Khan took a two-year hiatus from boxing after his devastating defeat to Canelo Alvarez in 2016 and has since won both comeback fights this year.

Any complications with the fight have primarily stemmed with Khan, who has been hesitant as to whether Brook would be able to make weight, with Special K needing to drop a weight division in order to create a fair fight.

With the fight set to take place at welterweight level, Khan's latest comments have provided a refreshing update for their highly anticipated match-up.

Brook told iFL TV after Saturday's main-event: "He's just come up to me (Amir Khan) and shook my hand and said it's happening. If he starts coming out with something else again, what can I do?"

Another problem the fight has faced in the past was Khan's request for a rehydration clause, in order to stop Brook gaining excessive weight after the weigh-in.

"He didn’t want to listen to that part of it. I said there’s no world title on the line, what you playing at?

"He’s saying, “This is what we need to do brother”. Let’s just fight, Battle of Britain. Let’s see who the main man is. Because I’m the governor, me. I’m the man. Me," said Brook on Khan's demands.
