If you’d have told Jurgen Klopp that his side would have picked up 30 points from their opening 12 Premier League matches, he would have fully expected to be top of the table.

“It’s a good result and we have 30 points – that’s perfect,” Klopp told BT Sport after Liverpool had beaten Fulham 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday.

Only it’s not perfect because Manchester City sit two points ahead of them, having won 10 of their 12 matches.

And you get the impression that could well be the story of Liverpool’s season.

The Reds are looking to win their first ever Premier League title but are facing a fight against the greatest side England’s top-flight has ever seen.

City reached the 100-point tally last season and you certainly wouldn’t put it past them to do so again this campaign.

Therefore, unfortunately, it’s pretty difficult to see Liverpool winning the league.

However, there’s one man that doesn’t think City pose the biggest danger to Liverpool winning the title this season.

That's because Chelsea midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, believes that Dejan Lovren could be Liverpool’s biggest danger.

“Liverpool will not be England champion. Why? Well because they have Dejan Lovren,” Kovacic told 24 Sata.

Of course, the Croatian is only joking and making fun of his compatriot.

But there’s certainly a section of Liverpool fans that may agree with him.

Since his arrival at Anfield in 2014, Lovren has failed to win over many supporters due to his inconsistent performances.

And it seems the defender is something of an unlucky charm having lost in the final of the League Cup, Europa League, Champions League and World Cup in recent years.

Lovren will just be hoping to prove Kovacic - and many Liverpool fans - wrong.
