Backstage news on the heat Nia Jax has with WWE after she punched and injured Becky Lynch

Nobody has had a bigger year growth-wise in the WWE than Becky Lynch.

Even before 2018, the Irish Lass Kicker had quite the CV. She was already the first-ever SmackDown Live Women's champion and one-quarter of the Four Horsewomen, a quartet that has helped revolutionise women's wrestling in the WWE.

Now, The Man is arguably the hottest superstar in the whole company, male or female.

In the midst of her second reign as a world champion in the company, Lynch was set on a course to met Raw Women's champion Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series in a special champion versus champion encounter that the November pay-per-view has become known for in recent years.

However, things went wrong during the main event segment on Monday night and that match is no more.

After Lynch had locked in the Dis-Arm-Her on Rousey backstage to leave the former UFC champion in agony, Lynch hit the ring and was backed up by her SmackDown Live peers.

They attacked their Raw counterparts and during the melee, Nia Jax landed a stiff shot on Lynch and according to WWE, Lynch suffered a 'broken face and a concussion'.

They will not medically clear Lynch to fight on Sunday and fans have been arguing on Twitter whether it was careless from Jax or just a simple error.

According to Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful.com, the SmackDown crew is very upset with Jax and the feeling backstage is that she was careless. Although people backstage initially understood that these things happen, upon watching the replays, their opinions quickly changed.

In this writer's opinion, Jax certainly doesn't mean to hurt Lynch, but to get a routine, working punch so terribly wrong is careless to say the least.

Becky after Jax's punch

It will be interesting to see how Vince McMahon chooses to punish Jax and history tells us those punishments normally unfold in the ring through his booking.

However, with rumours suggesting that the main event of WrestleMania will now be Lynch Vs Rousey, perhaps this has been a blessing in disguise for McMahon and the WWE.
