Toffees target Toon star as potential Pienaar replacement

Everton are rumoured to be assessing making an offer for Newcastle skipper Kevin Nolan.

The Toffees have lined up Nolan as a possible replacement if they lose South African international Steven Pienaar.

Everton have been adamant that they will not let the winger go, telling the Mirror earlier in the year: "We are not listening to offers for him, and he is not going to be sold, because we don’t want to sell him,"

Despite the Toffees' determination not to let the player leave, it appears the player is running down his contract at Goodison Park and new contract talks have been unsuccessful so far.

This has led David Moyes, the Everton manager, to start looking for replacements.

Nolan is believed to be a front runner for replacing Piennar at the moment, however, as the ex-Bolton player has been made skipper for the Magpies this season, it is obvious they will not let him go with out a fight.
