Dejan Lovren replied to Instagram comment asking: 'Did you elbow Ramos for Salah?'

Croatia Training Session

The spat between Dejan Lovren and Sergio Ramos just won’t go away.

During a recent appearance on Copa90, Lovren stoked the fire by claiming that Ramos is error-prone and is made to look better by the quality of his Real Madrid teammates.

The Spanish defender responded this week by saying he wasn’t interested in indulging anyone whose only attempt is to make headlines.

“I'm not going to answer Lovren or whoever wants to win three front pages or start the news bulletin,” Ramos said.

Juicy stuff.

The scriptwriters couldn’t have done it better, then, with Lovren and Ramos going head-to-head in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday.

Ramos was on the scoresheet but Lovren prevailed, with Croatia defeating Spain 3-2 to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Lovren taunts Ramos on Instagram

But that wasn’t enough for the Liverpool defender, who rubbed salt in Ramos’s wounds on Instagram.

Filming himself on Instagram Live, Lovren, per a translation on Reddit, is understood to have said: “I elbowed him good [Ramos]. A-ha. 3-2. Go ahead and talk buddy.”

Ramos has become something of a despised figure among Liverpool fans following his role in Mohamed Salah’s injury in the Champions League final.

And Lovren seemed to suggest that his elbow on Ramos was done for Salah, who was forced off after the clash with the Real captain.

Did Lovren do it for Salah?

Lovren was asked whether the elbow was for Salah, to which he replied with a love heart.

It’s not an admission, of course, but the fact that the 29-year-old felt the need to respond to that comment suggests that was his motive.

Lovren appeared to throw yet more shade on Ramos in another Instagram post.

Liverpool fans may be enjoying Lovren’s behaviour but it does seem like he’s taking it too far.

Liverpool have moved on from the defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev - they are unbeaten in the Premier League and top their Champions League group.

Yet all Lovren seems to care about is getting under Ramos’s skin.
