First it was on, then it was off. Now, it’s back on again.According to Floyd Mayweather, his exhibition match against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa is going to happen. The fight, scheduled to take place on New Year’s Eve, was announced by Japanese promoter Rizin two weeks ago.But Mayweather later said that he wasn’t going to take part after being “blindsided” during negotiations. The stand-off appears to have been resolved, however, with the American boxer telling TMZ that he stands to make a lot of money.“We’re gonna make it happen,” Mayweather told TMZ.“Rules? It’s gonna be a little boxing exhibition. No kicking.“I’m moving around with the guy for nine minutes and of course it is gonna be the highest paid exhibition ever.“It’s a no brainer. Just because I am retired from boxing. I still make appearances worldwide and make a ton of money.”

Conor McGregor's coach tweets

So, a fight featuring no kicking? That seems awfully much like a boxing contest.

That was the thought of Conor McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh.

Kavanagh reacted to the rules of the rearranged fight on Twitter, sarcastically pointing out that all signs suggest it’s going to be a boxing fight.

“So kickboxing without kicks? I think there's a name for that,” he wrote.

The fight has already been put into doubt once, but Rizin CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara insists it will happen.

He tweeted that a “misunderstanding” with Mayweather has now been resolved.

Mayweather has never turned down a pay cheque in his career, earning $275 million for fighting McGregor in 2017, according to Forbes.

And a lucrative exhibition match against Nasukawa was always going to interest him.

Nasukawa, who holds a 27-0 record in kickboxing, promised to avenge McGregor’s defeat to Mayweather last year.

“I promise to avenge your loss, so please watch my fight,” he wrote on Twitter.

It all seems like a bit of a circus.

But Mayweather’s going to get paid, and that’s all he cares about.
