Cuban boxer Luis Ortiz has made startling claims amid rumours of a potential bout between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

Wilder is due to take on Tyson Fury on December 1, but reports suggest that the 33-year-old could take on Joshua as early as next year - April 13 to be precise.

With a frame of six-foot-four, Ortiz's record speaks as a label for the Cuban, with his 29-1 record (25 of which were KOs) making him a formidable opponent for anyone.

The Cuban boxer bounced back from a defeat to Wilder with a second round KO of Razvan Cojanu in July, and Ortiz seeks his fourth stoppage in five fights against American Travis Kauffman.

But, when asked about how a fight between Wilder and Joshua would end, the Cuban came back with some strong claims.

“Wilder would knock out Joshua in three rounds. Wilder’s the faster and more aggressive of the two fighters,” said Ortiz.

“Of the two fighters, Wilder probably has the better chin. Joshua will not be able to withstand Wilder’s punching power…With all of that being said, Wilder is the superior fighter. Joshua will not be able to withstand his punches at all, point-blank, period.”

Joshua stopped Wladimir Klitschko in April 2017, a bout Wilder was ringside for, as the Brit rose from the canvas in the sixth round before obtaining an 11th-round TKO of the Ukrainian.

The British fighter's victory came 17 months after Klitschko was dethroned by Fury, whose decisive victory make him lineal IBF/WBA/WBO champion.

“Wladimir Klitschko put Joshua on his [butt], and a younger Wladimir would have gotten him outta there. Wilder will not forget what Klitschko did to Joshua,” said Ortiz.

“So I see Wilder being all over him and Joshua hitting the floor. Joshua will have no answer for Wilder’s style, which is a crazy powerful approach coupled with his chin.”
