It’s been almost six months since the Champions League final and yet many people are refusing to forget about it, it seems.

Dejan Lovren and Sergio Ramos have continued arguing since that night in Kiev where Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1.

Ramos, of course, played a big role in the victory by injuring Mohamed Salah’s shoulder in the first-half before colliding with Loris Karius in the second-half.

The Spanish defender has denied doing it on purpose but everyone associated with Liverpool simply don’t believe him.

Whether it was intentional or not, there's no doubt Salah’s injury after 30 minutes completely changed the game.

And Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk noticed how three Real Madrid players exploited Salah’s injury.

“Mentally, something changed for Real Madrid once Salah left the pitch,” Van Dijk told De Telegraaf, per the Daily Mail.

“Suddenly Marcelo, Benzema and Ronaldo all ganged up against our young right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and left the whole right flank free.

“With Salah, they would not have dared.”

Van Dijk has a point.

Alexander-Arnold had an extremely tough night in Kiev and was often outnumbered by several Real players.

If Salah had been on the pitch - and operating in his usual right wing position - there’s no way Marcelo would have been able to bomb forward as much as he did that night.

If he had, Salah would have exploited him time and time again.

But six months down the line, there’s no point thinking ‘what if.’

The only way Van Dijk, Salah and co. can put it right is by going one further this season and winning the Champions League.
