Edinson Cavani and Neymar don’t seem to particularly get on at Paris Saint-Germain.

It all started last season when the two strikers argued over who should take a penalty and a free-kick during a victory over Lyon.

And despite having wonderkid Kylian Mbappe alongside them, things haven't really improved much.

In fact, things have got even worse.

Recent passing stats show that just 0.5% of Neymar’s passes are to Cavani. Meanwhile, 25% of them are to Mbappe.

Just last month, Cavani insisted that ‘they don’t need to be friends’ for PSG to succeed.

"The penalty case, that's in the past. These are things that happen in football," Cavani told SFR Sport.

"We must find the solution together and function as a team.

"We need to be a competitive team, but we do not need to be friends. You have to be professional, and afterwards, everyone has their own life."

And on Friday evening, Cavani and Neymar were on opposing teams as Brazil took on Uruguay at the Emirates.

And there was always going to be a clash, wasn’t there.

Towards the end of the match - and after Neymar had scored from the penalty spot which was ultimately the only goal of the game - the Brazilian had the ball on the touchline.

But Cavani wasn’t prepared for Neymar to waste time.

Instead, his teammate launched into a strong tackle that earned himself a yellow card.

Neymar didn’t appear to enjoy it and ignored Cavani’s handshake afterward.
