Tyson Fury’s mega-fight with Deontay Wilder is fast approaching.

The two massive heavyweights will finally come to blows on December 1st in Los Angeles in what is expected to be a titanic bout.

Rewind to a few months ago, though, and such a thing did not look very likely at all.

Fury was massively out of shape and in no position to take on someone of the ilk of Wilder.

The journey back to an appropriate level of fitness looked to be a herculean task and there were many sceptics who just didn’t think it was possible.

To give himself the best chance, Fury hired 25-year-old Ben Davison to whip him back into shape.

However, as fight night approaches, even Davison has admitted that he had significant doubts about Fury’s state of mind and whether he could follow through.

“My main goal at first was getting his love back for the sport and getting him to want to train because I didn’t know how long it would take.

“It was a mammoth task, it was mission impossible at first, because everyone thought he was finished. To be honest I would sit on the sofa sometimes and look across and wonder if the job could be done.

Davison revealed that he knew he was taking quite a gamble betting on Fury but thankfully his bet paid off.

“We both took a risk on each other, I had family and a gym back home and I had to take a risk on whether he’d go through with it. And he had to put his trust in me to give him the level of training he needed.

“I’ve spent a ton of time around top trainers and gained valuable experience, I knew when to push him and when not to push him.

“It makes the hairs on my neck stand up because no-one will ever know the depth of this journey. I just wanted to see this man back happy and enjoying life.”

Incredible.

It sounds like Fury and his team have put in a staggering amount of work and it truly shows with the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ dropping an unbelievable 150 lbs.

Now he faces the biggest night of his career and he will certainly be confident of flooring Wilder on the night.

One thing is for certain, it is going to be a fantastic fight and we can’t wait for the bell.
