Nick Diaz has had a very troubled time in recent years. The older brother of Nate, the first man to defeat Conor McGregor in the UFC, it's hard to believe Nick has only had four fights in the promotion since his return in 2011.Diaz held the Strikeforce Welterweight championship before Dana White brought him back to the Octagon, and immediately got him a huge fight with B.J. Penn, and claimed a unanimous decision victory. It would be his last victory though - a loss to Carlos Condit followed in early 2012, and then he tested positive for marijuana metabolites, forcing him out of action for over a year through suspension.Diaz got a shot at Georges St-Pierre on his return but was defeated, and went on hiatus from the sport having been financially sound, but returned in 2015 to clash with Anderson Silva. And we all know how that ended - Silva got the victory, but Diaz once again tested positive for marijuana, and the Brazilian was popped for steroids. That was the last we saw of Diaz in a competitive environment, he wasn't even able to be a cornerman for his brother when he faced off against McGregor twice in 2016 due to a technical suspension imposed by Nevada State Athletic Commission. But his exile is all-set to end, as ESPN's Brett Okamoto has revealed that the UFC are close to finalising a bout between Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal is on a two-fight losing streak, being defeated by Demian Maia and Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson' in 2017, but also holds a knockout win over Conor McGregor's rumoured next opponent Donald Cerrone.

Fans think that it's a good match-up for both parties, and Masvidal being a top ten ranked Welterweight means a win for either man could push them up closer towards a shot at Tyron Woodley's belt.

Of course it's far too soon to predict if either will get a shot at Woodley in the near future seeing as the fight hasn't actually been confirmed yet, but a Diaz return in 2019 would be good for business and good for Dana White.

Now, can we have Nate back next please?
