Paris Saint-Germain simply can’t be written off as contenders for the Champions League title within the next few seasons.

Having spent more than £1 billion on transfers since the Qatari Sports Investments takeover in 2011, Thomas Tuchel has inherited one of the most glamorous squads football has ever seen.

The German boss has an abundance of quality available to utilise, but the crown jewels are undeniably among his attacking personnel.

Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edison Cavani represent one of the deadliest (and most expensive) strike forces on the planet.

Between them, they’ve contributed 39 of 45 goals scored for the Ligue 1 leaders this season, either by finding the net themselves or assisting a teammate.

That’s an incredible 86 per cent after 13 matches played in the French top-flight.

While each member of the PSG frontline was away on international duty in midweek, Neymar and Cavani did still share a pitch when Brazil met Uruguay at the Emirates on Friday evening.

The match was billed as a friendly, though it appeared Cavani didn’t get the memo when he attempted a tackle on Neymar late in the second half.

In a clash featuring eight yellow cards, the former Napoli striker was booked for sending his club colleague sprawling as he burst down the wing.

It wasn’t a pretty challenge and when he tried helping Neymar get back to his feet, his gesture went unreciprocated in no uncertain terms.

Reflecting on the heated exchange after losing 1-0, Cavani told reporters: "Playing against this team with a great history is really good and that's why we do not like to lose either.

"There are no friendly matches in football, sometimes there may be intensity, be the hot environment, but after the game, once the game is over, there is only peace and tranquillity outside the field.”

MBAPPE GETS INVOLVES

The incident caught the eye of Mbappe, who couldn’t resist sending a video of it to Neymar.

When asked if he contacted Cavani to poke fun at him, the Frenchman replied with a laugh, per AS: “[He] is already fired up, it’s not necessary.

“I sent Neymar a Whatsapp with the video of Cavani’s foul, and he laughed.

“Really it’s nothing, they were defending their countries and it won’t prevent them from playing together at PSG and giving each other big hugs.”

Mbappe, Cavani and Neymar will be reunited on Saturday when PSG host Toulouse on Saturday evening.

Let’s wait and see how the latter two greet each other at the Parc des Princes.
