The New Orleans Saints are playing phenomenal football right now in the NFL, and they demonstrated just how good they are against the Philadelphia Eagles this past weekend.

The Saints demolished the current Super Bowl champions 48-7 with Drew Brees and the rest of New Orleans' offense having a fantastic game. This was the worst loss by a reigning Super Bowl champion.

Brees completed 22-of-30 passes for 363 yards and four touchdowns during the win, while the running game complimented him perfectly, with both Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram rushing for over 70 yards.

Tre'Quan Smith was the best receiver on the day for the Saints, as he caught 10 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown, but the team's best receiver on the season has to be Michael Thomas.

Although Thomas had fewer catches and yards than Smith with four catches for 92 yards and a touchdown, he's been incredible across the 2018 season for New Orleans.

On the season so far, Thomas has been targeted on 91 passes and caught 82 of them, for 1,042 yards. He has a completion rate of just over 90 percent on passes thrown to him.

This is truly phenomenal as, according to FootballOutsiders.com with the target stats dating back to 1986, the highest catch rate for any 1,000-yard wide receiver in the NFL came when San Francisco 49ers' John Taylor caught 80 percent of his passes in 1989. He caught 60 passes for 1,077 yards.

Currently, Thomas is on track to catch 90 percent of his targets in a 1,000-yard season, which would mean he would smash the target by 10 percent.

The Saints wide receiver will finish with 131 catches on 146 targets, for 1,723 yards if he continues at this pace, producing one of the best NFL seasons in history in terms of catch rate.

Thomas will look to continue his amazing catch rate when the Saints play against their NFC South rivals in the Atlanta Falcons on Thanksgiving night.
