Loris Karius' 2018 will not be forgotten by football fans in a hurry.

The German goalkeeper's two errors in the Champions League final against Real Madrid were arguably the biggest footballing story of the year.

It's hard to remember a goalkeeper ever having a more unfortunate game and it spelled the end of his short Liverpool career.

Alisson Becker was brought in as the club's number one, with Karius leaving for Turkey, signing for Besiktas on a two-year loan.

So far, things haven't been great over in the Super Lig and in the Europa League, with Karius conceding 16 goals in his 11 games.

A few minor mistakes from the German with the Turkish side have also gone viral on social media, but has Karius really been that bad with his new side?

Well, apparently not, according to Turkish football expert Emre Sarigul.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, he stresses that Besiktas are happy with their summer signing, stating that the defence in front of him has been pretty shambolic.

Former Real Madrid man Pepe, the key man in defence, has been absent a lot through injury.

Sairgul also states that Besiktas still intend to buy Karius on a permanent basis, before offering him a serious bit of advice.

He said: “But the one thing he could do is hire a PR team. He did a similar thing to what he did after the Champions League final. Around that time people sympathised with him, but he went on social media and did that video.

"He did the same again in Turkey, after a few bad results, sharing photographs on Instagram that got people thinking, ‘hang on a minute, this isn’t the time for this’, so he could do with toning down what he puts on social media.”

With his reputation, following Sarigul's advice would be the smartest thing Karius could do right now.

Stay quiet on social media and let your performances on the pitch do all the talking.
