We're just a few months away until Brock Lesnar is eligible to fight under the UFC banner once again.

Lesnar re-entered the USADA testing pool in July, and commenced a sixth-month ban imposed on him after failing to comply to the UFC anti-doping rules.

It means that January 8 is the date the WWE Universal Champion can return to the Octagon, and the fight that is on everyone's minds is against Daniel Cormier.

Their showdown at UFC 226 in July was epic; Cormier called Lesnar into the Octagon WWE-style, before the former Heavyweight champion shoved DC across the ring as security intervened.

Lesnar then went on a verbal tirade regarding the heavyweight division, slamming the microphone that Joe Rogan was holding into the camera in the process.

Many thought Lesnar would appear after Cormier's defence against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 in Madison Square Garden, but he failed to appear, most likely as he had appeared at a WWE event in Saudi Arabia around 24 hours earlier.

Most fans are keen to see the bout made though, and the only man who can make that happen is Dana White.

White made an astonishing claim about Cormier and his future whilst speaking to TMZ though, which could put any future fights in doubt.

Responding to a reporter asking if he's going to face Lesnar, White responded: "We don't know that either yet. I think Cormier has a couple [of fights] left in him.

"I'd like to see Jones and Cormier fight again at heavyweight but right now Cormier's team wants him to retire now.

"But I hope we can get three more fights out of him."

So it seems as though Cormier wants to carry on but his team want him to quit - which is very interesting.

Of course seeing as though it's come from White and not Cormier you have to take it at face value, but the UFC President would have no reason to lie.

Cormier has stated that once he's done with the sport, he will go to the WWE and tryout for a commentary role within the company, but when that will be is anyone's guess.

If the huge clash of the titans is made in the near future though, Lesnar could decide Cormier's future for him by knocking him out.
