It was feared the Brazillian Grand Prix might lack drama with Lewis Hamilton already having wrapped up the title in Mexico. Those concerns proved completely unfounded and lo and behold, Max Verstappen was at the heart of the tension. The 21-year-old understandably felt aggrieved after Esteban Ocon caused a collision which effectively forced him to settle for P2, as well as damaging his car.In the immediate aftermath, it seemed the Force India driver was entirely to blame, though more recent footage suggests Verstappen himself knew his rival was there and he could have done more to prevent the crash. The Red Bull man is so often accused of being reckless on the track, but after the race, he proved himself bad-tempered off it too, pushing the Frenchman three times. To be fair to the stewards, Ocon was handed the most severe punishment available to them, a 10-second stop-and-go penalty. However, it's quite apparent that nearly a fortnight on, Verstappen is not over the incident.

It made for a very tense press conference ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen left looking very awkward in the middle.

Things got very uncomfortable

As Verstappen renewed the feud, Ocon sat laughing nervously as he claimed he had been "calm" - skip to around 10:00 to see the encounter:

Asked by a reporter if he regretted the way he'd responded, Verstappen replied:

"No, not really because I was after an apology and I got a bit of a different response.

"We are all emotional and at the time I had lost a victory so I think from my side I was really calm.

"It could have been much worse. Pushing, in any sport, it happens, I actually saw it a few days ago in football, so from my side I thought it was quite a calm response.

"And what do you expect me to do? Shake his hand and [say] 'thank you very much for being second instead of first'? I think it is quite a normal response."

He had previously claimed Ocon had provoked him by saying he had been faster and he reiterated again that he had been tormented.

"You guys don't hear what is said on the scales, you just see me pushing," he added.

"But if you understand the whole conversation you will see it as a bit different.

"[Ocon said] something I didn't expect to hear. It doesn't matter what it was at the end of the day because it clearly p***** me off."

Of course, Verstappen has been handed two days of community service by the FIA.

Perhaps that will teach him to keep his cool next time - but probably not.
