Braun Strowman has been one of the hottest characters in the WWE for the best part of two years now, and yet, he is still yet to claim his first world title.

The Monster Among Men has certainly come close through his numerous battles with Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar and fans are just waiting for the WWE to pull the trigger.

With Reigns sidelined indefinitely while he battles leukaemia, it seemed the perfect time to put the strap on the former Wyatt Family member.

Instead, Vince McMahon opted to give Lesnar his second reign with the Universal title and Strowman has been in a storyline with acting general manager Baron Corbin.

If Strowman can defeat Corbin at the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view, he will face Lesnar for the Universal title at the Royal Rumble. However, most fans will have seen that the 2018 Money in the Bank winner was written off television this week following a heinous attack from Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Corbin.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, that segment has a significant meaning behind it. Apparently, Strowman is dealing with a very real elbow injury and he needs to have surgery.

With TLC just four weeks away, Johnson says WWE will have Strowman simply squash Corbin if he isn't ready to go and then let him rest until the Royal Rumble.

Corbin needs to win the match in order to become the full-time general manager of Raw, and Johnson is reporting that after he loses, Alexa Bliss will be granted that position.

Of course, the five-time world champion is dealing with concussions issues right now and while she has not been told she needs to retire, she may be forced to take an extended break from the ring.

Given her skills on the microphone, putting her in a position of power would certainly be an interesting choice and it could freshen up Raw. What that would mean for Baron Corbin - or Kurt Angle for that matter - is less clear.
