Fernando Torres will always be fondly remembered in the Premier League. The Spaniard took the English game by storm after signing for Liverpool in 2007, forming a terrifying partnership with Steven Gerrard as the pair plundered goals for fun.Torres went on to net 81 goals for the Anfield side, running some of the world’s best defenders ragged on a regular basis.A certain Nemanja Vidic will probably still be having nightmares about the Spanish forward.During his spell at Liverpool, Torres was easily the best striker in the world, scoring some incredible goals while laying some on a plate for his teammates.Who could forget his unbelievable performance against Real Madrid in THAT last 16 encounter in the Champions League?El Nino was simply unplayable as he led Liverpool to a scintillating 4-0 win over the Spanish giants. However, Rafael Benitez’ departure as manager spelt the beginning of the end for Torres’ fairy-tale spell on Merseyside.

Torres simply wasn’t the same player under Roy Hodgson and made a controversial move to Chelsea in January 2010.

Liverpool fans felt rightly betrayed but Torres initial failures at Chelsea softened the blow somewhat.

Torres was never able to replicate his Liverpool form in London despite being part of a Champions League winning side.

He eventually moved back to boyhood club Atletico Madrid to wind down his remarkable career.

However, just when we thought we were about to see the last of the Spaniard, he made an unexpected choice to move to Japan to end off his professional life.

Torres signed for Sagan Tosu on a free transfer in July this year.

Since his arrival, though, Torres’ new side has struggled, teetering on the brink of relegation for most of his time in the J-League.

Torres has done little to help steer the club away from the danger zone too, scoring just three times in his 16 appearances.

But the World Cup winner came up clutch when it truly mattered this weekend, scoring a last minute goal to rescue his side from relegation.

Watch the goal below:

If ever there was a typical Torres finish, that was it.

He rolled back the years as he worked the ball onto that venomous right foot before firing a powerful snapshot low into the bottom corner.

The celebrations that ensued show just how important that goal was to the club.

You know what they say, class is permanent.

Good on you, Fernando.
