After being named the goalkeeper of the tournament at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Thibaut Courtois would have been pretty pleased with his year.
His performances for club side Chelsea had been more than solid too, playing a vital role in the Blues lifting the FA Cup at Wembley in May.
This all eventually led to Courtois making a dream move to European champions Real Madrid, for a deal believed to be worth £35 million.
Since then though, that dream has turned into rather a painful nightmare, with Los Blancos enduring their worst ever start to a season.
Courtois has been powerless to stop his new side slumping to sixth in La Liga after 13 games conceding 19 goals in just 13 games.
However, there are many who believe that Courtois may be one of the biggest contributing factors to Madrid’s atrocious form.
The Belgian stopper has looked terribly uncomfortable since his move and his short career at the club has been littered with costly mistakes.
Without Cristiano Ronaldo scoring goals for fun at the other end, Madrid can ill afford a leaky goalkeeper at the back.
But that is exactly what Courtois has been and his new fans are already fed up.
Their angst was only magnified after his performance in Real’s disastrous 3-0 loss to Eibar on Saturday.
Courtois conceded three goals yet again and was at blame for Eibar’s first of the afternoon.
The 26-year-old failed to deal with a shot as the ball ricocheted around the area before it was eventually bundled in.
Courtois was left flailing embarrassingly as he stumbled to try and rectify the situation.

This led to a pretty unanimous response on Twitter from fans, calling for Courtois to be dropped and Keylor Navas to be reinstated as the club’s number one.
With Chelsea challenging for top honours once again in the Premier League, Courtois might just be thinking he made a big mistake leaving London.
He is going to have improve and do it quickly if he is going to get the very demanding Madrid fans back on his side.
