It was a poor day for James Maddison yesterday. The Englishman, who was recently called up to his national side for the first time, was sent off after just 28 minutes against Brighton on Saturday afternoon. He picked up his first yellow card for a cynical foul on Anthony Knockaert, before inexplicably diving in the box just a few minutes later which resulted in a second yellow. His side were already 1-0 down at the time after Glenn Murray had given the hosts the lead. However, despite the man disadvantage, Leicester managed to battle back to secure a point after Jamie Vardy converted from the spot with 11 minutes remaining.Claude Puel confirmed he would talk to Maddison following the game and hinted that he deserved to receive his marching orders."It is our fourth sending off," Puel said, per the Daily Mail. "That is a lot and we have to manage better our attitude and our games."It was difficult of course to accept two yellow cards in three minutes and the sending off put us in difficulties, but I have to review the replay about the first and second yellow cards, and then we discuss with Maddie."Maddison, perhaps he deserved a sending off, but I will watch the replay."Watch his second yellow below:

To be fair, that is really poor from Maddison and he deserved to be sent off.

But, he has gone a short way to redeeming himself by posting an apologetic message on Instagram.

"Apologies to everyone for what happened today," he wrote. Nobody wants to see diving in our beautiful game.

"I was anticipating contact that never came, but that’s no excuse. It’s a mistake and I will learn from it.

"Lads showed fantastic fight and determination to get us back in the game and go home with a more than deserved point."

Fair play, Maddison. At least he has owned up to his actions and admitted they were wrong.

Let's hope he can learn from this sending off in the future and never attempt to dive again.
