Most people agreed back in January that the swap deal between Manchester United and Arsenal involving Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan appeared to suit all parties.United had secured the services of one of the Premier League’s best players and managed to offload the inconsistent (but talented) Mkhitaryan in the process.Arsenal, meanwhile, were more than satisfied after acquiring the Armenia international as a direct replacement for the want-away Sanchez, whose contract was due to expire at the end of last season.Sanchez was happy that he could compete for major honours at Old Trafford, Mkhitaryan was happy that he no longer had to play under Jose Mourinho, Man Utd fans were happy they’d signed a world-class forward, while Arsenal fans were optimistic for the future after signing both Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the same transfer window. It appeared to be a win-win deal for everybody concerned.Fast-forward almost a year, however, and nobody seems to be pleased with the way things have turned out.Sanchez has been a complete disaster for United and it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he leaves Old Trafford in the near future.Mkhitaryan hasn’t been quite as bad for Arsenal, although fans are becoming increasingly frustrated by his underwhelming performances. The 29-year-old was blasted by Arsenal fans on social media for his display against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon - even though the Gunners secured a 2-1 victory - with supporters baffled how he managed to last the full 90 minutes. Here’s a selection of tweets from Arsenal fans summing up what they thought of his latest performance.

James Benge, the London Evening Standard’s Arsenal correspondent, posted a tweet about Mkhitaryan which pretty much nails it.

“Mourinho really broke Mkhitaryan. He has had flashes at Arsenal and hasn’t been as bad as his critics claim,” he tweeted.

“But we’ve never seen the player United bought in 2016. Makes you wonder what might have happened if Wenger had got him then instead.”

Indeed, Mkhitaryan was fantastic for Borussia Dortmund prior to his move to Old Trafford.

In the 2015-16 campaign, the Armenian scored 23 goals and registered a ridiculously impressive 32 assists.

But he was a shadow of his former self under Mourinho and still doesn’t look the same player at Arsenal.

However, given the fact he’s currently earning £200,000 a week at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal fans have little sympathy for him and just want him to start justifying his eye-watering wages.
