Barcelona fought back from a goal down on Saturday night to draw 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid and prevent Diego Simeone's men from going above them in the table.

Diego Costa headed in his first La Liga goal of the season to send the Wanda Metropolitano crazy but Ousmane Dembele's composed finish snatched a point for the visitors.

The match held a special significance for Sergio Busquets because it was the midfielder's 500th appearance for Barcelona in all competitions.

He's spent his entire senior career at the Nou Camp and won a massive 28 trophies, including seven La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey triumphs and three Champions Leagues.

The first half of Atletico 1-1 Barca was extremely tight but that didn't stop Busquets from showing his true class yet again with a fabulous piece of skill.

The brilliance of Busquets

Football purists regard Busquets as one of, if not the finest holding midfielder of this generation due to his unique blend of passing, vision and technical quality.

One of the Spaniard's biggest assets is his ability to remain unfazed at all times, even when opposition players are racing towards him to close him down.

With Ernesto Valverde reverting to last year's 4-4-2 system and Ivan Rakitic suspended, Busquets anchored a new-look midfield of Sergi Roberto, Arthur, Arturo Vidal and himself.

Busquets beats Costa with super skill

During the opening period, Atleti's players worked very hard to stop Busquets; seen as the key in the build-up to Barca's attacks, and that included ex-Chelsea man Costa.

The Brazil-born Spain striker sprinted straight at Busquets and looked certain to regain possession but the Barca playmaker's brain and feet were simply too quick.

As you can see below, Busi effortlessly popped the ball through Costa's legs and carried on in typically calm fashion after the nutmeg while the forward was still moving in the opposite direction.

The 30-year-old was at his silky best but Ernesto Valverde's men have since been knocked off the top of the table by Sevilla, who beat Real Vallodolid on Sunday.

Busquets and Barcelona can guarantee Champions League progression by beating PSV Eindhoven this week and then regain top spot in the league when they host Villarreal.
