Everything looked like it was going well for the Minnesota Vikings last night. They were keeping Aaron Rodgers at bay, holding the Packers offense down and keeping the scoring low as they made Rodgers look mortal at US Bank Stadium during Monday Night Football yesterday. And then it happened. Late on in the eventual 24-17 divisional win, with just over two minutes left on the clock, Xavier Rhodes was in coverage on Green Bay wide receiver Davante Adams - who made a nice 36-yard reception from a Rodgers pass.Rhodes went down after making the tackle on Adams and the Vikings' star cornerback looked in serious pain, not returning to the game after hobbling off the field and into the locker room. Unsurprisingly, Rhodes didn't speak to reporters after the game. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said after the game that he didn’t have an update on the corner. While some thought it could just be a bad cramp or muscle strain, new footage of the incident paints a much darker picture for Vikings fans.Looking at the injury on video, Dr. David Chao - formerly of the San Diego Chargers - said that there's a distinct possibility Rhodes suffered an unusual type of hamstring tear that could well end his season.

“Keep in mind this is based on video, but I’m concerned this could be near the only type of hamstring injury that would require surgery,’’ Chao went on to add. “That would end his season even if the Vikings went to the Super Bowl.’’

The fact that you can see the pop in Rhodes' leg is absolutely brutal.

Something similar happened with Branden Oliver of the Chargers back in 2016, when the running back suffered a torn achilles that you could visibly see rupture.

Hopefully, Rhodes is able to make a full recovery and can be back on the field as soon as possible. Unfortunately for the Vikes, that may not be until September 2019.
