Jurgen Klopp deserves plenty of praise for the brilliant job he’s done at Liverpool over the past three years.

One of his biggest achievements is ensuring the Reds play thrilling, attack-minded football - the type that gets supporters off their seats every time they turn up at Anfield.

The most exciting aspect of Klopp’s side is undoubtedly the attacking trio, comprised of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool’s lethal forwards scored a remarkable 91 goals between them last season, helping the Reds reach the Champions League final in the process.

They are capable of terrorising any defence on the planet when they’re all on the pitch together and have put many teams - both in the Premier League and overseas - to the sword over the past season-and-a-half.

Liverpool signed the trio for just under £100 million. In today’s market, they’d now be worth around three times that amount.

On Wednesday night, they come up against another of Europe’s revered attacking trios in Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe.

Paris Saint-Germain’s forward line cost the French club an eye-watering combined total of £435 million.

However, ahead of the meeting between the two Champions League hopefuls, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has given his honest opinion about Liverpool’s forward line - and it’s certainly interesting.

The veteran Italian believes that, at this moment in time, Salah, Firmino and Mane are currently the best attacking trio in European football.

Yep. Buffon reckons Liverpool’s three-pronged attack is ever better than PSG’s.

“Throughout my career I have always wanted to test myself against the best,” Buffon told the Mirror, “and at the moment you really can't think of any teams in Europe who have a better front three than Liverpool.”

High praise indeed from Buffon - but is he right?

PSG’s attacking trio are obviously all world-class, but Barcelona’s isn’t too shabby, either.

Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and either Ousmane Dembele or Philippe Coutinho could destroy any defence on the planet.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, boast an attacking line-up of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio.

And over at Juventus, they have Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic.

There’s stiff competition for the title of best attacking trio, although Buffon clearly feels it currently belongs with the Liverpool stars.

The legendary keeper also believes that Liverpool have a ‘big chance’ of winning this season’s Champions League - although they’re not one of his three favourites.

“This season, I see the favourites for the Champions League as Barcelona, Juventus, and Manchester City,” he added.

“Liverpool as well have a big chance and you can never forget about Real Madrid.

“Of course it is still a dream of mine to win the Champions League - last season I thought would be my last chance but now I have another one.”
