After a tumultuous season and a half that has seen excellent play on the field mix with a whole host of problems off it, Reuben Foster's time with the San Francisco 49ers is done.

The 31st pick of the 2017 Draft out of Alabama, Foster was expected to go higher but slipped due to pre-draft concerns, that now look like they were proved right.

After his latest arrest, the 49ers decided to cut ties with the talented linebacker who was suspended for the first two games of this season, stating that it had become hard to trust the 24-year-old.

But last night something very interesting happened. And by very interesting, we mean absolutely ridiculous, as the Washington Redskins decided that they wanted in on 'the Reuben Foster Experience' by claiming the disgraced linebacker off the waiver wire.

The team announced the move yesterday with a statement coming from SVP of player personnel Doug Williams, who acknowledged the circumstances surrounding Foster.

"The Redskins fully understand the severity of the recent allegations made against Reuben," Williams said. "If true, you can be sure these allegations are nothing our organization would ever condone.

"Let me be clear, Reuben will have to go through numerous steps including the full legal process, an investigation and potential discipline from the NFL, as well as meetings with counselors associated with the team before he will ever have the opportunity to wear the Burgundy and Gold as a player."

"That being said, we decided to investigate the situation with Reuben further by claiming his rights after candid conversations with a number of his ex-Alabama teammates and current Redskins players who were overwhelmingly supportive of us taking this chance."

As you may imagine, NFL fans, reporters, and former players took to social media with anger that Foster was being given another chance while still under investigation.

The Redskins weren't going to be able to make this move quietly.

ESPN's Mina Kimes went back through the annals to find a statement made by Redskins owner Dan Snyder back in 2014, where he stood by the league amid the Ray Rice scandal and the action Roger Goodell took - which now looks somewhat shameless.

Former New York Giants kicker and Super Bowl winner Lawrence Tynes also spoke up, wondering where the fathers were in the room when the decision was made to sign Foster.

A situation like Foster's is always going to cause debate, with some claiming innocence until proven guilty, but the Redskins have taken a risk here - or it would be - if they cared what people thought. It doesn't seem like that's the case.
